Bacon and Cream Cheese Roll-ups

Great holiday recipe! Set these out on the buffet table and get out of the way quickly, so you don't get trampled.
Ingredients
  • 1 (1 pound) loaf white bread, crusts trimmed
  • 1 (8 ounce) package garlic herb cream cheese, softened
  • 1 pound good quality sliced bacon, cut in half
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
  2. Cut each slice of white bread in half horizontally
  3. Spread evenly with garlic herb cream cheese
  4. Tightly roll each piece of bread with half a piece of bacon. The bacon should be on the outside of the bread. Secure with toothpicks.
  5. Arrange roll ups in a single layer on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven 30 minutes, or until bacon is no longer pink and bread is lightly browned.
  6. Drain on paper towels for about 5 minutes to cool a bit, and serve.
Notes
Variation: Use pineapple cream cheese and then sprinkle a little brown sugar over the bacon before baking Once they are secure with the toothpicks you can go ahead and bake them, or you can place them in the fridge or the freezer to bake later (if baking from frozen, add about 5-10 minutes to your cooking time).
